The North Face Men’s Hedgehog Fastpack Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Boots Review

This is my review of The North Face Men’s Hedgehog Fastpack Mid Gore-Tex Hiking boots.  I purchased these boots after our 1st Day of Hiking The Bruce this winter.  My shoes were good but snow kept coming in the sides of them causing my feet to get wet, so new Hiking boots was the answer!  I purchased the Men’s (Size 10) and Ladies Version (Size 6) as well for my wife Trail Cat.  This review will be for the Men’s version only.  I purchased these boots on sale from an online Quebec outdoor company called Latulippe, which had some great deals at the time. Price was $118 Canadian on sale from the regular price of $165.  Delivery was very quick, had them in time for the next hike of the Bruce.  Didn’t break these boots in before I hit the trails and there was some rubbing on my one ankle caused from the material being stiff.  Hiked 18 kms in them that day and I had to keep adjusting the tongue so it would rub less.  Next hike after that they were fine and haven’t bothered my ankle since.  Out of the box, they are a light sturdy hiking boot, which I would expect from The North Face.  They are Goretex and after about 80 kms in them on snowy, icy trail conditions, my feet were dry and warm.  These aren’t insulated but with the proper moisture wicking socks my feet were toasty warm.  The boots are light, approx 1 lb 3 oz per boot.  Very sturdy on the trail with about a 35 lb backpack on.  Good toe protection & I couldn’t feel any of the ground on the bottom of my foot, so good protection all around for your feet.  They are incredibly comfortable, I even wear them to work the odd time.  Traction was okay in the winter and I haven’t wore them in the spring/summer yet.  I’ve read reviews saying sizing was too big, but they fit like a size 10 should fit on me, so no issues with that.   These are a mid cut hiker with great ankle support & are very breathable. All in all these are another great boot by The North Face, extremely comfortable, good ankle support, Goretex keeps you dry and the boot is very well put together and will protect your feet on pretty much any terrain out there.
